JOB DESCRIPTION: FITTERS MATE (TEMP-TO-PERM) 01/2026 Outline • Starting pay will be £13.00 - £14.00 per hour (depending on experience). • Basic hours of work are 8.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday. • There is no fixed overtime but we work all over the UK and therefore due to travel,

hours are varied day-to-day, so full flexibility is required i.e. 6:00am start / 6:00pm finish depending on the location of work.

• Lodging away is required on occasions (all food and lodgings are paid for) and a £10 bonus is paid for each night away.

• A full clean UK driving licence is required (held for minimum of 2x full years). • Part uniform is provided in the first 12 weeks whilst working for the agency. • Full PPE (personal protective equipment) is provided on day one. • You will need to be in possession of a current / in-date CSCS card. Main Job Description • The applicant will mainly work as a team of two alongside an Installation Engineer from

a van/mobile workshop in customer’s homes and on commercial/industrial sites. • They will be expected to help and assist with the installation and repair of domestic

garage doors across Leicestershire and Rutland and the installation and repair of large commercial and industrial/factory doors all over the UK.

• The job involves lifting of heavy and awkward objects, working at height, using power tools and hand tools.

• The applicant will be expected to be familiar with and work safely and competently with power tools and all hand tools.

• The applicant will be expected to be a sensible team player who can work safely, to any given instructions and under the authority of other staff.

• Attitude is looked upon more favourably than experience and a poor attitude towards work and colleagues will not be tolerated.

Additional Job Description • In addition to the installation of doors, the applicant may also work within our workshop

when necessary. • This will involve manual labour under the instruction of others and again can involve

lifting of heavy and awkward objects and using power tools and hand tools. • The work will involve cutting, grinding, drilling and assembling of various steel materials. • In addition, regular day-to-day housekeeping duties can involve sweeping, cleaning,

general tidying and washing vehicles when required. Cont.>

…Cont.> Prospects • After initial face-to-face interview with the Workshop Manager and/or Managing

Director, the applicant will be taken on a temp-to-perm basis through the agency for the first 12 weeks.

• The applicant will be expected to learn, be enthusiastic and demonstrate their ability or potential, complete with a good attitude from day one. This will need to be consistent in the days and weeks thereafter to enable the work to continue to be provided for the full 12 weeks.

• If the applicant shows consistent enthusiasm and potential during the 12 week period then a permanent job offer will be made.

• If successful the applicant will be offered a 6 month fixed term contract in the first instance.

• Full uniform is provided on direct employment. • The 6 month period is a chance for the applicant to learn and develop into the role

beyond the initial 12 weeks and to prove themselves worthy of a longer term position. • At the start of the 6 month period a full program of training courses and investment will

be provided including the training and qualifying for working at height, manual handling, abrasive wheels, PASMA and any other training as necessary.

• In some circumstances specific training may be provided during the initial 12 weeks and other training may not be appropriate until taken on full time (all at our discretion and depending on the abilities of the applicant).

• If they are successful at the end of the 6 months then a permanent position will be offered.

• Once taken on permanently then further training courses and investment will commence including; industry leading door manufacturer training courses, IPAF Mobile Elevated Work Platform training including scissor lift and articulated boom.
